Carbon Footprint
Definition
A carbon footprint is an estimate of how much carbon dioxide is produced to support your lifestyle. It measures your impact on the climate based on how much carbon dioxide you produce. Factors that contribute to your carbon footprint include your travel methods and general home energy usage. Carbon footprints can also be measured on a larger scale, and applied to companies, businesses and even countries.
Context
Understanding and managing carbon footprints has become essential to global efforts to combat climate change. Every product and process carries a measurable carbon footprint based on raw material sourcing, energy consumption, logistics and end-of-life treatment.
