Glossary
Climate Change
Definition
Climate change refers to any significant change in measure of climate, such as temperature, precipitation or wind, lasting for an extended period of decades or longer.
These long-term shifts can occur due to natural processes, such as volcanic eruptions or variations in solar cycles, but in recent history, have been largely driven by the emission of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels and industrial processes.
Context
Climate change is a global challenge affecting ecosystems and economies. The plastics industry can make a difference by improving operational transparency, undertaking carbon footprint measurement and lifecycle assessments for products.
