M. Holland Enlists Michael F. Gumbko to Advance Efforts in Automotive Market

Michael F. Gumbko brings expertise and strategic relationships to M. Holland’s endeavors in the automotive industry.

Northbrook, Ill., March 28, 2019 — M. Holland Company, a leading distributor of thermoplastic resins, added Michael F. Gumbko as strategic account manager of the Automotive group, strengthening the company’s growing Business Development team. Gumbko is well known throughout both the plastics and automotive industries for leveraging his business relationships to meet strategic goals. This addition reinforces M. Holland’s continued investment in broadening its expertise in the automotive marketplace.

As strategic account manager, Gumbko will focus on developing partnerships with large automotive suppliers operating multiple locations across North America. He will interface with various M. Holland account managers to establish and maintain broad-based, multi-material business relationships with large tier-one manufacturers, OEMs and industry leading suppliers.

“I envision 2019 to be a transformational year for M. Holland in the automotive space,” said Gumbko. “My goal is to build our automotive presence through my industry expertise and the relationships I’ve developed over the last 30 years.”

Gumbko brings a wealth of automotive distribution experience to M. Holland. He spent the last eight years serving as automotive business manager for Amco Polymers, a plastics distributor headquartered in Orlando, FL. Prior to his time with Amco Polymers, Gumbko established a significant presence in the automotive space during his 21 years with General Polymers, a division of Ashland Distribution Company. Beginning as an account manager, Gumbko honed his relationship-building skills and was eventually promoted to corporate account manager of automotive. In this role, he established materials specifications, managed corporate pricing and supported commercial sales.

Gumbko’s success in plastics began at Ferris State University, a leading plastics engineering university in Big Rapids, MI, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Gumbko currently serves as vice president of the Ferris State Alumni Association’s board of directors.

M. Holland’s corporate Business Development group comprises eight market teams: automotive, 3D printing, color and compounding, electrical/electronics, flexible packaging, healthcare, rotational molding, and wire and cable. With Gumbko on board and strategic priorities such as M. Holland’s recent distribution agreement with Borealis, the Automotive group expects to make significant advancements going forward.
