Bubble Defect

Definition

Bubbles are voids or pockets of trapped gas that form within a molded plastic part during processing. Unlike blisters, which appear on the surface, bubbles are typically located within the interior of the molded part.

Context

Bubbles can result from trapped air, improper material drying, inadequate venting or uneven cooling during molding. Depending on their size and location, bubbles can affect a part’s structural integrity, dimensional stability and overall performance.

M. Holland helps customers identify material and processing solutions that improve molding consistency and reduce common manufacturing defects.
