In September, M. Holland announced the acquisition of Birmingham, Michigan based Polymer Z and formation of M. Holland Automotive Group. Polymer Z is a specialty resin distributor that focuses on the automotive industry.

“Everyone in the M. Holland Group has been a pleasure to work with, they have openly embraced us. There seems to be a true eagerness to succeed with us in the automotive world,” John commented. “I am looking forward to advancing and growing our presence in the automotive market.”John is a 30-year veteran of the plastics industry, having previously served in executive roles at Dow and Bayer. Given Polymer Z’s strength in the automotive market coupled with the seasoned professionals that make up the M. Holland organization, John is confident the overall organization is positioned for long-term success.
“There already exists a well-trained and motivated field force that, given the right tools and knowledge, will find doing business in the automotive market not only feasible but also invigorating,” John stated.

A father to four children, John is a true family man and is looking forward to continuing to being a part of a family-owned organization. “This is an ideal fit. I have great admiration for Ed Holland and the entire M. Holland organization. M. Holland provides a premier product portfolio, a leading North America infrastructure and now reaches into one of the fastest growing automotive manufacturing regions — Mexico.”

The next year should be an adventure for John and Matt. In John’s vision, M. Holland Automotive Group will play a key role in fueling the organization’s overall success in the future and expects that the applications development competence of Polymer Z can be transferred to other target markets. “In my eyes, M. Holland Automotive is the engine that powers our automotive success. I have always been passionate about the automotive industry, I am looking forward to sharing my passion with the broader organization.”

When asked if he has experienced any surprises along the way, John commented, “All of the surprises have been pleasant. I have sat in a series of very positive meetings. We have a lot of work ahead but it is going to be very exciting. I’m proud to be a part of this organization.”

Outside of the office, John enjoys participating in just about anything athletic, spending time with his children and is an avid sports fan. A native of the Detroit area he is a huge fan of the Red Wings. “Don’t ask me about the Lions,” he laughs. “They continue to disappoint me.”
